DETAILS

After a brief safety talk and introduction to dog sledding, meet your team of trusted dogs and set out for approx. 2 hours.

At Sky High, everyone drives his own sled and dog team, nobody sits in the sleds. It requiers a good balance and a good shape, comparable as downhill and nordic skiing (Read section "Fitness & Safety"). Fish Lake is in the Coastal Mountains, so uphill and downhill are all along the trails to reach breathtaking views. From beautiful trails across the frozen landscape to amazing views of the surrounding snowy mountains in the Fish Lake area, you will see more than you can expect, and all in silence, with just the sound of the dog running on the snow.

Trails and length of the tour will vary dependent on snow/ice and temperature conditions.

NOTE: dogsled tours run snow, cold or shine! No cancellations unless the guide decides for safety reasons. Please ask for our cancellation policy.

WHAT'S INCLUDED:

Use of winter gear (parka, snow pants, gloves, winter boots)
Your own personal sled and team of Huskies for the duration of the tour
Hot drinks and collations in our yurt afterwards.

Need a ride ?

We can provide round trip transfer for all of our tours for $40 +GST per person. Pick up are from any downtown hotel or hostel (time dependent on the tour you are doing). Or if you want to drive yourself, our Ranch is located approx. 30 minutes drive from downtown Whitehorse on the Fish Lake Road. We are at Km 16 and have a 30' sign by our driveway on the right hand side of the road.

What to bring ?

Winters in the Yukon can mean temperatures as low as -30 Celsius, so it is important to be prepared. We recommend you wear a warm jacket, snow pants, warm base layers, socks, boots, hat, mitts and something to cover your face and ears (Neck warmer or balaclava).

We will provide parkas, snow pants, mitts and boots if yours are not warm enough. There will be plenty of photo opportunities so bring your camera!

Fitness & Safety

Please note that dog sledding is comparable to downhill/ nordic skiing and does require you to be in relatively good physical shape. You have to help the dogs up the hills by running beside the sled at times or push with one foot over smaller hills. A good balance is required to follow sled movements.

All our tours are guided for your safety. Before commencing on any activity, you will be given basic safety instruction and our fully certified guides always travel with a well stocked First Aid Kit on any tour.
