WHAT TO EXPECT WHEN STAYING "OFF-GRID"

Our ranch and all its accommodations truly encompass the wilderness ranch lifestyle. Sky High Wilderness Ranch is “off the grid” - it is serviced by quaint outhouses, has limited cell service, no WiFi and water is hauled up from downtown. Our buildings are warmed by a wood stove, making for a cozy stay. We have gravity-fed showers and all of our lights and appliances are all powered by propane (no electricity).

Please note we are 30 minutes from the City and have no meal options at the ranch. Please bring your own groceries before heading up.

THE SURROUNDING AREA

Nestled atop a hill overlooking Fish Lake, this cabin is situated in the perfect place to explore the Yukon wilderness. We're located approximately 25-30 minutes from downtown Whitehorse, in the Coastal Mountains of Southern Yukon - along the Fish Lake Rd at approx km 16. In the Winter we run exceptional dog sled tours and during Summer months the dogs get a rest and the horses can take you out to explore our beautiful area at Fish Lake. We also have an abundance of hiking trails, suitable for all ages and fitness levels, there's plenty to do during your stay! Click for more information on our summer day tours, or our winter day tours.

From April to November, make sure you haul a bear protection as a bear spray (not included), wildlife is everywhere around the Ranch.

From October to April, if you rent a car, contact us to see if you need a 4 wheel drive. The road can be very complicated in winter.

Wonderful place to stay, don’t miss out! Great hiking trails close by, beautiful clean cabin, and the sauna is SUPER close to the house! Host was great as well, communicative over text and gave us our space once she had checked in on us. 10/10

Gorgeous place! We especially enjoyed the fire lit-sauna and had some amazing cleansing saunas while we were there. if you’re a hiker, don’t forget to bring bear spray, as it is not supplied. I would also recommend having a SUV or more durable car if you want to explore the roads outside of the ranch for hiking. Cell reception is a five minute drive away at Fish Lake.

The cabin was everything we expected and more. A quick drive from downtown, but secluded enough that there was zero light pollution. Beautiful sunsets and sunrises, puppies to play with on-site, the hosts were amazing and very tentative. Such an awesome experience to see the Yukon
